Every year, millions of people are starving due to low income and need help. Luckily, there are programs helping the hungry, but they can't do it alone. So step up and help these 3 million people in our country have food to eat. If everyone in the US were to put a quarter on this issue, then our nation could afford 4.5 billion pounds of food, enough to halt the hunger problem.

One group has a creative take on this problem. "US Hunger" enables people to host drives, where the hungry come to eat and people donate at the same time. A group of volunteers serve food and collect money. People who are in poverty are provided with healthy food. People can help by hosting a hunger project or donating food or cash to a local hunger project or online. This organization states "If we everyone were to put 25¢ per meal towards hunger, we could end hunger in the USA".

For every one dollar donated, 95¢ goes directly to buying food. Anyone unable to buy their own food can go to the food bank and get food free of charge. Right now, the Food Bank is accepting donations and canned goods from anyone who wants to help, which provides food to hundreds of people. The amount of food that is wasted in restaurants is not something many people think about, but 70 billion pounds of food are wasted in the United States every year, and restaurants can produce around 150,000 pounds of garbage per year. One in seven Americans are food insecure and have limited access to nutritious food. A solution to this problem is to become aware of how to reduce food waste and donate food to reduce hunger. Donating food to the food shelters is not something new, and many chain restaurants are jumping on board. Last year Starbucks announced that the program FoodShare would allow the 7,600 Starbucks locations to donate leftover prepared meals to food banks.…

Currently I live near Detroit and every day I am there I see the people around me starving, struggling to provide food for their children and just survive. If one is to walk around at the end of the day it is a devastating sight as the restaurants throw away the days excess food and the homeless come running, fighting for scraps, moldy food and expired products. My plan is to start a business that puts refrigerators in front of restaurants for people of the community to place their left overs in and for the restaurant employees to put food, that was not used by the end of the day, into for the homeless and needy to have at their disposal.…

Ever wondered how to help families and children with food insecurities? Well, a lot of people volunteer with organizations like Hunger in America and so can we. These organizations are dedicated to ending childhood hunger in food insecurities, but they need support. One way to help is to connect local farms, restaurants, and hotels with food banks or pantries that they can donate surplus foods to. It should be that someone who is in a situation where they are well off and able to donate money should be morally obligated to donate a small portion of their money to charity to prevent suffering and hunger. Would it really be so bad for someone who has extra cash to spare ten dollars?…
