Work Site Observation

Decent Essays
As I enter the work site security guards were posted at every entrance. The supervisor, Dominique Fils- Anime, was easily located in room 316. We spoke briefly about the rules and procedures of the summer youth program. Participants placed at the work site would be assisting teachers in the classrooms. The location of the work site is at Public School 149. From my observation, I noticed multiple entrance and emergency exits which were clear and accessible along with stairs. The school building was clean, hazard free and well ventilated. Fire extinguishers were located throughout the building which were current and up to date along with the sprinkler system. Overall, I was able to conclude that the work site complies with DYCD rules and regulations.

San Jacinto, met the health and safety environmental standards that are described in our textbook and on the Child Care Environment Checklist that Professor Hays provided. I also would have like to see a smoke detector, as a feature that contributes to environmental safety of a classroom.…

The plant was decently messy to start with; most stations were clean but some were cluttered with what looked like scrap and unusable parts. However, there could have designated stations for those reasons. With this clutter it is dangerous for the employees because a worker could trip over a scrap on the ground and injure themselves. Because the work areas were cluttered, it is dangerous for the workers’ because they could accidentally move their hand into a work area and brush or hit a sharp or hot scrap with a part of his or her body. This was the only safety concern I noted with the plant.…
