Part 2. Aspect Of The Environment That Promote Safety In order to determine environmental aspect that promote safety, I carried out a one and forty-five minute observation at the Child Development and Education Center at Mt. San Jacinto in room 5 that consisted of toddlers. One environmental aspect that promotes safety that I observed at this child-care facility was security management. According to the authors in our textbook, Sorte, Daeschel, and Amador (2014), they addressed the concerns of “families want assurance that teachers are going to keep their children safe from intruders, and teachers want support in case an intruder enters the facility” (p. 445). The Child Development and Education Center at Mt. San Jacinto advocate safety provision from intruders. For in steads, as I enter the facility, there is a reception counter where the site supervisor promptly asked me the purpose of my visit. San Jacinto, met the health and safety environmental standards that are described in our textbook and on the Child Care Environment Checklist that Professor Hays provided. However, I feel that one environmental aspect that promotes safety could improve by having a fire extinguisher. At the same time, maybe one was not present because a stove was not in the classroom. I also would have like to see a smoke detector, as a feature that contributes to environmental safety of a classroom. A third detail that could improve the safety of the outdoor environment is to have “a 6 foot tall solid fence…to screen out views, [and in views of children. However, Sorte, et al.
