The book was not made to scare kids it is made for fun. three reasons this book is banned or challenged is of some parents, because people think it's to scary for kids, and because there's too much violence in r.l stines books. I don't believe the book should be completely banned. Although some of r.l. stine books should be challenged in Elementary Schools. R.l. stine books are challenged and banned because parents think it's to scary for there kid and others. For example out of one of the article's I read it said "the objections came from parents who felt the books were too frightening for kids and/or contained satanic and occult themes". Most of r.l. books are scary to young kids but not to middle and high school kids . Middle and high school should be able to read r.l. stines books as they please. Banning books because of what? “Never take a learning opportunity away from a student”, this was said by a character on the hit show, How To Get Away With Murder. Should we, as students, have the right to learn what what information books provide us, or should all questionable books be locked away from the world where no student can ever learn from them. Books are wonderful sources of information, but everyday, books get banned from schools for strange, and sometimes ridiculous reasons. Although In Cold Blood contains scenes of descriptive, graphic violence, it should not be banned because it isn’t the only source that writes about murder, and it is an informative book about a true story.…

Explicit language for some parents is a big no-no. They do not want their child to listen to, hear, or read explicit language. Many do not want their child to be “tainted” by the language because along with the idea of cursing or explicit language is the idea of rebelling. This book’s explicit language is way beyond words. Everyone is insulting and judging everyone, it gives off the vibe of bullying, which is not a good idea to give to young adults and pre-teens.…

The banning and challenging of a book is typically decided by parents, school staff, and district officials. For a book to be challenged it has to be attempted to be removed or restricted. It is, again, based upon the objections or parents and school officials. Unlike a challenge a banning of a book is the removal of material that is getting challenged. Most of the time challenges and banning’s are motivated by the desire to protect the children from what people think may be inappropriate content, typically sexual or against a religion or sometimes because it promotes a certain religion.…

Profanity can be another way for teens to express themselves and let everything out. This novel can teach teens it can help to swear a little to let out some of the pain. I think the sexual interactions in this book are a positive addition because like I said it opens a teen to the real world and in the real world these types of sexual encounters can happen. They happen in every school nationwide so why not express to a teen what these encounters can be…

The American Library Association created a list of books that are prohibited to read in schools. Due to violence and “mature” content, parents challenge books because they don’t find them very comely for their children to read ; the parents believe the books will sully their child’s mind. The list of banned and challenged books includes the story of “Grendel” and The Alice Series. “Grendel” by John C. Gardner tells the 8th century epic of Beowulf from Grendel…

Due to our own human nature, people learn the best through their experiences, both positive and negative. It is important for teenagers to understand the process of maturing, especially through how their actions can affect other people. A Separate Peace should not be banned and should be used in high school curriculums because it is a relatable story of young adults maturing through experiences.…

There are the main things such as being sexually explicit, having vulgar language, or not being suited for that age group. Then there are others that are banned for the talk of the extraterrestrial and witchcraft. In the many years people have been challenging books, many have made it to court such as Minarcini v. Strongsville City School District, Mozert v. Hawkins County Board of Education, and one of the most famous, Board of Education v. Pico. All of these cases were brought up because someone had a problem with the writing of a novel. Pico was mainly brought up for religious reasons against books such as Go Ask Alice by Beatrice Sparks and Down These Mean Streets by Piri Thomas.…

Book banning and censoring is something that happens in this country to stop children from being exposed to topics that are sometimes deemed too explicit to be suitable for children. Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, keeps getting banned from the curriculum of a Mississippi middle school. This is happening for the books inclusion of rape and derogatory language, particularly the overuse of the n-word. Many also do not like how some of the characters in the novel are portrayed, and do not realize how this portrayal is very accurate to the time period. Because of the truthfulness of the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, along with every other book, should not be banned or censored because books reflect and bring awareness to real life problems, the practice of banning books violates the First Amendment, and reasons for book banning are often easily contradicted.…

Fortunately, for every group pushing for bans on literature, there are organizations that fight for this freedom. One such organization is the American Civil Liberties Union. In the year 2000, when discussing the topic of book banning, the organization stated that, “Permitting restraints on literature sets the stage for attacks on all expression that is artistically or politically controversial or that portrays unpleasant realities of life” (American Civil Liberties Union). Although some books may contain graphic violence or sexual content, and therefore of course should be kept out of the hands of children, I’d like to think that these widespread en masse bans of such literature are a poor way to go about it. It’s not as if middle or high school students are incapable of understanding and comprehending dark or more adult subject matter.…
