Why Is Cornell Notes Important To Me

Decent Essays
I have attended class every day. It is very important to me to be always be present at school unless I have an emergency. Sometimes I ask my teachers questions if I do not understand a concept or if I want more detail about the concept. I am not afraid to ask questions if I do not understand something. To me it is important to understand everything because it could be a question on the test. I take notes in my classes because it helps me retain the information better and feel more comfortable seeing my handwriting, rather than taking pictures or typing them. Many times I use the Cornell Notes method because it helps me organize my notes and understand them. Sometimes we do group assignments and I contribute my part in the assignment and I

Reflection Over that three assignments above and the other assignments we have done over this quarter I have noticed a way of think and formating I do when starting a assignment. When starting an assignment I don't start or finish things in order I'll do the main requirements for what goes where and create how ever many pages it needs then I’ll Start the assignment in the middle where I'm doing the main most important part first. For example this project I started with the hard moments essay instead of a title screen just to get it out of the way. I've noticed I don't talk much in class, even though I used to always get in trouble in language arts and reading for talking because I hated those classes, but not speaking much in class doesn't mean I don't contribute to class. I think I contribute a good amount I volunteer for questions (Sometimes).…

Assignment 4 In Jean Anyon ’s essay “From Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work,” she focuses on many schools whose curriculum have been carved out by social class. The lower the students families social class is the more repetitive and simple their curriculum will be, while on the other hand, the higher the social class is the more thought goes into the students coursework. Anyons basic point is that the work children are told and expected to do in school is the work that they will continue to do in their future jobs and careers. People, most often, do what they are taught to do.…

INTRODUCTION: Many Americans much rather live under the impression that class doesn’t exist and according to Paul Fussell’s text A Touchy Subject, Americans believe that under our god and the law, we are all equal, however, that is not really the case and whether we like it or not, class matters and it lives among us, we just choose not to accept it. THESES: Class is a touchy subject that not many people talk about because they don’t want to touch a subject that might make them feel uncomfortable or make others feel uncomfortable. Class is a subject that we get exposed to as we grow up and you don’t necessarily have to talk to someone about class to be able to find out their class level. Based on the knowledge about class that we obtain…

One of the reasons why I chose Cornell is to build my connections with people who are contributor, self-driven and well qualified. As said by my father in his native language and I translate, “Connections are very essential in your life son, if you want to spend time with anyone, spend it wisely. Be it on the roadside or in a coffee shop, your friends will define you and they are going to influence you in many ways.” I kept that on my mind and my future goal is also related with the connection that I’m going to make in America.…

For the last four years of my high school career I have sat in all of my classes quietly and patiently, listening to my instructors teach. I’d like to think of myself as a sponge that soaked up everything there was to learn. While there were a handful of classes that allowed hands-on learning, much of my time was spent listening -- absorbing. I took my tests, raised my hand when I knew an answer and established myself as a reliable, thoughtful student. I’m grateful for my years at Hudson High School; however, I believe in high school many people, including myself, fall into a routine.…

Cornell university is a dream school of mine because of a unique combination of factors. First of all, I have been attracted by Cornell’s excellent reputation in economics and in particular, by the variety of intellectual opportunities offered by Cornell’s department of economics. I dream to work in the field of education one day, teaching economics. Why economics ? What fascinates me about this subject is that it shares certain aspects of both an art and a science, offering the perfect combination of numbers and words, calculations and interpretation.…

Being a student is not so fun we have to do work and interact with people we don’t want to, and we have a whole other set of people to boss us around till we're older, to me the most stressful part of school is when you have a question in class, because you have to find out if it’s a dumb question and whether or not the teacher or another student already explained it & if the teacher will even be able to hear you over the noise or just dead silence when you have a soft voice. It’s nerve wrecking when you raise your hand and the whole class looks back at you to listen in on what you want to ask like their clueless too and want someone else to ask their question for them cause they don’t want to be the dumb one. Some students struggle with asking questions in class, so they should ask privately, think before raising your hand, do…

I take a lot of notes in most of my lectures so when I am studying for an exam I can see what topics the professor focused a lot on. This helps me see what main points I need to study and what minor points I can skim over. I used this skill on my last exam and it helped me get a better grade than I expected. Looking at the test questions for clues helps me understand what the question is focusing on so I can remember the exact topic and hopefully pick the correct answer. I have used this skill throughout high school and even in college.…

For some reason I’ve always hated the idea of taking notes. It’s like every time I heard the teacher mention anything about notes, my heart sank to the pit my stomach. The repetitiveness always pissed me off. My notes were always subpar because of this.
