Why I Want To Pursue My Art Degree

After I graduated from Hesston College and obtained my Associates in Graphic Design, it was undetermined where I was going or what I was in my future. I expected to attend another school and obtain a Bachelor’s Degree but the school I would attend was unknown to me. I planned on only being a student and retiring my athletic career which was something I came to terms with due to an ACL injury. A door had opened for me and in a split second I had a decision to make, to attend Siena and play Volleyball or to get a job and attend community college. I chose to attend Siena and to continue my athletic career as a Siena Saint. Transferring to Siena College was not an easy task. First, I decided to change my major since I already obtained an art degree I did not want to further my art knowledge. In fact, I decided to major in Sociology to keep myself well-rounded and help further my career in law, if I decide to go down that path. I chose not to continue my art career because I saw more opportunities available at Siena. Siena had more options that appealed to me and I was beyond thrilled. Being a sociology major at Siena, I was required to take more than half of my major at Siena College. I can start planning accordingly to take the GRE and the LSAT. Furthermore, I plan on using my mother’s military benefits to pay for the next school I attend. These benefits are on a strict timeline and after a certain age, I am no longer eligible to use these as a means of financial aid. Being from a family of five siblings and a single mother, my mom tries her best to help give us the same opportunities as other kids have.
