Why Do Books Shouldnt Be Banned

Did you know that books can be completely banned from libraries, counties, cities, states, and even countries because of minor circumstances like witchcraft and wizardry! Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was an english author living from May 22, 1859 to July 7, 1930. His most famous series, the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, was banned from many school across the country. One of the books in question is A Study In Scarlett. According to some people, this book is offensive to them and their religion. This book should not be banned because of it hurting someone’s feelings. All books are going to have inaccurate and offensive over exaggerations of the truth. Although it may be incorrect, it is wrong to completely ban anyone from reading any book. The book was not written to inform readers about the mormon religion. The character Jefferson Hope wasn’t crazy because he was a mormon. Instead, he was crazy because he knew that he could die any day. He had what you would call an aneurism, which is an enlargement of the aorta, which is the main blood vessel near the abdomen, which could burst anytime without warning. If it was to burst, Jefferson Hope would die. He wanted to make the most of his life with the time he had left, which apparently to him, was to kill people (which is discovered later on in the book). All in all, the book “A Study in Scarlet” should not be banned from schools across the country. Mormon characters in the book are crazy and their actions are inaccurate, but that is not a good enough reason to ban a book. The people who challenged the book had to have not read the entire book, because if they did they would know that is not the case. The book isn’t representing mormons to be psychotic.
