George Washington was a Virginian representative to the First Continental Congress. He was again present at the Second Continental Congress. Here John Adams argued that this seasoned soldier should lead the new Continental Army. Washington believed in the cause so much that he accepted the job without pay. Washington achieved his first victory, that of retaking Boston, without much difficulty.…

The Americans had to face so many obstacles to win the Revolutionary War against the British Crown. But how did they do it? It’s hard to believe a group of novice soldiers won against the most powerful country in the world and they were also heavily outnumbered by so many British soldiers. George Washington’s leadership was one of the most important aspects of the war because he formed tactics that surprised the opposing army from guerilla warfare tactics to stealing the British army’s resources. He also got other leaders to train his inexperienced soldiers.…
Now these states had seceded from the Union and was beginning to create the Confederate states of America. But Lincoln was not about to give up that easy. He was not going to allow them to secede because of four reasons. One; physically the states could not separate. Meaning that even if they did secede then they still would be connected to the north and vise-versa.…
In July of 1832, Andrew Jackson wrote an address to Congress explaining why he vetoed the proposed bill for the institution of a national bank. Despite the fact that Jackson was not known for completing tasks in a benevolent manner, his decision to veto the bill was actually rather admirable and beneficial for the country at the time. Jackson strongly argued the point that stocks should be dispersed between both foreign countries and the early United States fairly. He believed this to be crucial because if given the opportunity the foreign countries, primarily Great Britain, would try to purchase as much stock as possible allowing their wealth to flourish. While in theory the idea seemed like a good way to create a constant flow of revenue, if the majority of the revenue was to only return to countries, such as Great Britain, the inhabitants in the United States would still be in debt .…
While trying to ratify the constitution two parties were formed, the Federalist and Anti-Federalist. Now the Federalist wanted a strong government with a strong executive branch. Now the Federalist felt that the Constitution was fine just the way it was, that there was no need for a Bill of Rights. The Federalist also believed that only the elite and educated should be eligible to lead the colonies. Alexander Hamilton was a great influence with the Federalist since he believed that they should have a strong National Bank to manage money across state borders.…
Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767, in South Carolina to Irish immigrants. He was later orphaned as a child when his family died when the British invaded the Carolinas in 1780, leading him to have hostility toward Great Brittan. In his younger years, he became a young wealthy lawyer in Tennessee and the first to be elected from Tennessee to the House of Representatives. Jackson also so served in the senate. He married Racheal Robards in 1791, later being accused of adultery because his wife was not legally divorced when they got married.…
1776 was written by renowned author David McCullough and retells the events of the American Revolution. The book closely follows George Washington as he commands the American army through the hardships that they faced in these times. Both Washington and his soldiers dealt with harsh conditioning which lead to low morale. This sense of overall gloom contributed to the departing of many of the soldiers in the war and some even took weapons or other trinkets of war as collateral for their time spent. Washington is seen today as a outstanding general and the main reason for the overall victory of the independence of America but at the time he was seen as unfit for such a high possession in the army that would be leading a Revolution against the British Empire.…

George Washington, a prime example of what one regards to be a great leader. Dependable, communicative, and charismatic are all words that surface when asked to describe George Washington. Being an introvert, if I had to be as communicative or charismatic as Mr. Washington, I would be terror-stricken, but that does not mean that I am not an awe-inspiring leader like him. Our first president may have been a heroic leader, however, there are many other remarkable leaders that do not fit within that definition. Rosa Parks, a seamstress that has influenced millions of individuals through her actions alone without being as communicative as Mr. Washington.…
George Washington could arguably be the best president but reasons as to why Washington was the nation 's most well done president can be drawn from before his presidency as a general during the revolutionary war. During the war he demonstrated great strength in leadership and intelligence, leading his outnumbered army away from defeat on two different occasions that gave them a much needed advantage that ultimately won the war. The first occasion was during the battle of Princeton on December 26th 1776 and in Morristown in 1777. During both instances, Washington seemed to be outnumbered and losing the battles but managed to outsmart the British on both accounts. Afterwards when he was unanimously elected by the electoral college in 1789 and…
