What Is The Paleo Diet?

Ages ago before agriculture and industry, humans presumably lived as hunter–gatherers: picking berry off of bushes; chasing mammals; scavenging meat from animals that larger predators had killed; and a while later they learned to fish with lines and hooks and hunt with spears, nets, bows and arrows. During this period and with the above eating habits people did not suffer from the same diseases as modern humans do: like diabetes, obesity and heart diseases which are now considered the most lethal worldwide. So what happened? It was after the invention of agriculture, animal husbandry, and processed food that our health started to deteriorate. So, it is a very crucial matter nowadays to find a diet that emulates the hunter-gatherer diet of our ancestors, thus curing ourselves from the above diseases. Such a diet is the Paleo diet which is a simple dietary lifestyle that is based on food that people ate prior to agriculture and animal husbandry (meat, fish, shellfish, eggs, tree nuts, vegetables, roots, fruit, berries, mushrooms, etc.). …show more content…
I believe that the Paleo diet is much better than a standard Mediterranean diet, because it leads to greater improvements in waist circumference and glycemic control, it proves to be much more satiating per calorie, and it achieves better control over
