What Are Women's Rights Persuasive Essay

The first day I was told about sexual assault was the day it happened to a girl in my second grade class. I was seven, she was eight, and I remember asking my mom why she hadn’t been at school for the past week or so. The conversation we then had was confusing, saddening, and, above all, terrifying. When we had finished talking, the final point I was left with hurt for inexplicable reasons: be careful. My mom meant well in telling me to check my drinks at parties and to move aside on the sidewalk when men pass me by, but the side effects of this advice is damaging. By encouraging girls to make themselves more prudent than boys, and meeker so they do not draw negative attention, we are drilling into young girls that they do not deserve the same safety, power, and strength that boys do. It is through Trump-minded debates such as these that ludicrously illogical phrases such as “she was drunk”, or “her skirt was short” become plausible excuses for female objectification and sexual harassment. These “excuses” become even more frightening when the potential president believes that they are justifiable. If Trump was simply a Baby Boomer generational man of basic means, his remarks might not be so disturbing.
