The Telegraph produced a list containing every instance in which Donald Trump made a sexist remark towards women. In all, there were 31 different instances between 1990 and 2016 where Donald Trump demoralized women. The most prevalent of which is of him objectifying female reporters and celebrities based on their appearances. A jarring example of this is in 2009, when a Miss USA pageant contestant came out about the “Trump rule.” Trump being a co-owner of the pageant would automatically eliminate any girls from the pageant that he didn’t find attractive. In those instances, the contestants could be found crying out of humiliation and devastation being compared to someone who was “stripped bare.” Another more recent example can be seen in 2015 with a remark about Hillary Clinton. He stated on Twitter that “If Hillary Clinton can’t satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?” To defame someone because of their personal life and not their professional experience, especially in a sexist matter, is counterproductive language to be using. The feminist movement is a prevalent force across the nation and is fighting for equal rights for women. One of the main attributes to women not being treated the same as a man is the societal roles that are still in place for both. The only way to move away from gender inequality is to try and stop every instance of it from occurring and to not let it prevail in society. Donald Trump’s rhetoric used to objectify and defame women is the means for the perpetuation of gender inequality in the United States. It is understandable to assume that not every instance of gender discrimination or racial discrimination can be ceased in present society. However, allowing major figure heads and leaders to continue harmful rhetoric, which hurts domestic tranquility, is more harmful than small pockets of insignificant individuals making the same
