Was Texaco's Response To Stereotypes Of Racial Discrimination?

How would you rate the effectiveness of Texaco’s response to the allegations of racial discrimination?
I believe Texaco did a pretty good job handling the racial discrimination allegations. Mr. Bijur was very quick to address the allegations, both to the public and Texaco’s employees, and apologize for the deplorable conduct of a few individuals. Mr. Bijur vowed a full investigation and proper disciplinary actions taken against anyone proven to be guilty of these actions. In his statements, he made it a point to assure everyone that these types to discrinatory behaviors did not represent Texaco’s true core values and principles. He also settled the lawsuits quickly and implemented plans to enhance diversity advancements at the company.

Texaco’s response did address the core problems and issues surrounding racial discrimination. They conducted a complete investigation and suspended the individuals caught on tape pending the results. After leaving the company, Richard Lundwall and Bob Ulrich were stripped of their benefits. He did not deny any of the allegations and addressed the public and the Texaco employees. He also sought counsel from the Board of Directors, which helped end the lawsuit quickly. Mr. Bijur did the right thing in holding meetings with Rev. Jesse Jackson and other black leaders in an effort to stave off a planned boycott of Texaco products and to reassure minorities in that Texaco did not condone discrimination in any form.
