These memories include colors, feelings, and everything that the regular people of the town do not know about. After so long, Jonas starts to realize that the town’s way of life can be way better. The first example the book gives us is when Jonas receives the memory of war. He finds out that war is horrible, and he ultimately feels sad and starts to cry. I think that feelings like this should not be kept from people. They need to know about the dangers of the world, they need to know what the world is like. It is horrible how the elders of this town keep secrets from the other residents. So, a rebel has risen because the elders have kept these secrets for a long time. Next, Jonas starts to give memories to a baby, Gabriel. On page 147, Jonas gives Gabe the memory of warmth. Although Gabe might not realize anything is going on, he is getting important memories. Jonas is starting to spill the secrets that the elders have been hiding for so long. I think that this is awesome. The town was getting plain and boring. They needed a change.
