A never-ending process that aims to seek further advancement of the competitive position on both an individual and company level, education should be an important focus for any company that wish to ensure that they not only employ the best individuals but individuals who constantly adds value to themselves and the organisation. UOB is also such a company and they clearly understand there isn’t a one size fit all learning style that can be enforced upon each and every of their employee as different individual acquire information and knowledge in vastly different ways. Instead of formulating a single educational programme to employ throughout the company, UOB had adopted an education concept that promote a self-aware, self-motivated and self-paced learning culture with varieties of different learning methods and programmes that was all builded around the end goal of performance improvement. The concept was stemmed from UOB’s belief that employee should enjoy the freedom to construct a program that caters to their individual need and this freedom will greatly contribute to a much more effective learning journey. UOB also does not overlook the importance of feedback from employee to allow them the chance to analyse and clearly identify possible lacks and areas that can be enhanced. As mentioned above, education should be inclusive of management personal and managers in UOB further more place themselves in the supporting role by aiding in the identifying of development opportunities and similar tasks.
