My earliest memory of the day that I was diagnosed with type one diabetes was not being able to breathe. My lungs felt like they were collapsing with every breath I took. Everything around me was blurry and I didn’t know what to do with myself. The trees and cities spun to me if I glanced out of the window of my car. I didn’t think, I just needed help. I’m thankful that my family realized that. My parents would keep saying, “We’re going to go to a hospital as fast as we can. Hang in there.” …show more content…
I was admitted to the ICU on ________.Throughout the night on my first night there, I was constantly being injected with needles. There was a bright light illuminating the nurse’s face. I was begging my mom to make it stop, but it seemed like days had passed before they would. She would just squeeze my hand and say, “It’s going to be okay,” because there was nothing else we could do.
I didn’t realize how serious it was until a couple of years later, but I had a 50% chance of making it through the day
