Throughout history, people who identify as transgender have not been properly welcomed across the world, being that it is not introduced by parents and mentors. However, over the past couple years, people have been trying to embrace the change that people bring to themselves and their peers. Although there are many supporters that appreciate transgender lifestyles and respect what they go through, a lot of people were raised to reject change and lash out at the people who undergo it by passing laws that limit them and rules that take away their freedom and confidence. As President Donald Trump has recently tweeted, “Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail." The people agreeing with this accusation also think they should have less rights, and not more. However, transgender soldiers want to fight for America just as much as other people in the military and gender does not have anything to do with it. One of the main obstacles that set transgender individuals back, are bathroom rights. A transgender boy, named Landon, lives in Texas and there is currently a debate on whether there should be a law that forbids him to use his preferred bathroom. Landon goes through many complications revolving around his sexual identity, but many people, like Patrick and Abbott, who are the governors of Texas, believe that people who identify as transgender should use the bathroom that corresponds with their biological sex. Although Landon and other transgender individuals have done nothing wrong and are most likely struggling with much more than which bathroom to enter, Patrick and Abbott are attempting to pass a bill that requires such people to use the bathroom according to what is printed on their birth certificate. Many people believe that transgender individuals are a sin and go against all of the “ways of the world”.
