As President Donald Trump has recently tweeted, “Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail." The people agreeing with this accusation also think they should have less rights, and not more. However, transgender soldiers want to fight for America just as much as other people in the military and gender does not have anything to do with it. One of the main obstacles that set transgender individuals back, are bathroom rights. A transgender boy, named Landon, lives in Texas and there is currently a debate on whether there should be a law that forbids him to use his preferred bathroom. Landon goes through many complications revolving around his sexual identity, but many people, like Patrick and Abbott, who are the governors of Texas, believe that people who identify as transgender should use the bathroom that corresponds with their biological sex. Although Landon and other transgender individuals have done nothing wrong and are most likely struggling with much more than which bathroom to enter, Patrick and Abbott are attempting to pass a bill that requires such people to use the bathroom according to what is printed on their birth certificate.
