Actually, the song is a little sad and peaceful and has a medium tempo. The final song is from Son Jorocho Sotavento, and it was a mixture of Afro-Cuban music. In fact, Son Jorocho came from Veracruz. This song also had a ten line stanza with a fast tempo. At first, the music was slow then it got faster.…
From the spins on the beats by Kenny, to the b-boy crew and their dance moves, to the graffiti of Ramo, this movie showcases all aspects of hip-hop. The movie ‘’Beat Street” and the documentary “Rap: Looking for the Perfect Beat” are interrelated because the movie vividly shows the art of hip-hop that is described in the documentary. The whole movie is relaying the life of young black and Hispanic teens who are heavily involved in the hip-hop culture. The DJ’s, the b boys, and the break dancing all show how hip-hip culture is engulfed throughout the whole film. The scene at the end of the movie, when the whole hip-hip community celebrated the life of Ramo, brought together all aspects of hip-hop art.…
One thing I really like about this song is the fact that is uses an unusual meter. It gives it a nice, exotic sounding rhythm and beat. The next song is “Blue Rondo a la Turk.” This song is fast. It uses an usual meter too, giving it an exotic kind of feeling.…
The narrators in Beth Cuthand’s “Four Songs for the Fifth Generation” both relate to cultural shock due to the great depressions that development that brought similar drastic changes in the 1930s. The history of Rock and Roll has a vast library of artists whose songs provide discussion on how the music impacted society as well as the ever-changing artistry of the music. While the artist and songs compiled for study are author selected, excluded artists with contributions to the history would be lacking. Not including those who brought direction to the evolution of music music as we know it today, leaves me looking for more. Music preferences are one of the things that contribute to one’s own personal style. Personally, in this course I found one missing artist which stands out among others.…
For centuries, song and dance have been a vital part in creating and expressing a community’s sense of identity. Through each, members are able to pass on traditions, make political statements, and express themselves. The tango and salsa styles of music and dance are prime examples of mobilities in Latin American music that help foster a sense of identity among the smaller communities, although each required international attention before earning recognition from its home country. Each style of music is a special hybrid of all kinds of influences, demonstrating a deep history that can also give some insight to the social outlook of the times. Despite the time gap between the emergence of the two styles (tango first appearing in the early 19th century while salsa came into the scene around the 1970s), both styles have contributed a significant impact in establishing a sense of identity among Latin American music.…

It is definitely crazy how much time and effort goes into making a program hour perfect.…
Popular Music 1950-1980 Throughout America’s history, the pattern of popular music has been quite divergent. As trends altered, so did the music people commonly listened to. However, during the timespan between 1950 and 1980, there were four genres that seemed to be more popular than others. These four included Tin Pan Alley, country music, music with strong African American influence, and contemporary styles.…
Now that all the basic essentials technology wise has been identified and discussed, the anatomy of what exactly makes EDM, EDM must be explained. First off, much like any rock and roll song, there must be an ongoing backbeat. This beat sets the ‘mood’ of the piece. A faster backbeat will encourage the production of a high-energy song, such as house music, whilst a slow less elaborate backbeat will promote a low-intensity song which can build up progressively like trance or progressive house music (Wilson sayre, 2016). This back beat is usually a four-beat bass drum, made through the use of the drum machine.…
When I signed up to take music appreciation, I knew it would be the perfect class for me. I myself take up being a musician as a hobby, I’ve played the guitar for years and have a basic understanding of music in the world. I knew that music had deep history within its roots, but I always had a curiosity to learn a slice of that history which is exactly what this class did. Besides playing an instrument and make music, I also became very fond of listening to music as a hobby. I began to have a love for music itself and take the time to listen to complete album over and over again to reveal their underlying themes like a poem.…
