Theresa Fraser had an interview session with Jessica Stairs, a child, and youth counsellor on the role of CYC /CYW in an educational milleu settings, legislation, and competencies. Theresa has been in the field for about 11years and she had started as a child and youth worker and later got her degree and became a child and youth counsellor. She works in a Toronto District School Board. Theresa talked about professionalism and cultural and human diversity.
According to Carol Stuart (2013), profesionalism is the area of influence presentation of the practitioner and their interpersonal interaction with young people, family, community, and other professionals (p.329). Professionalism: Good and effective communication skills such as: summarising, paraphrasing, maintaining eye contact ,sitting upright will help in communication better, which will eventually make the intervention easier .We have to be approachable and respect our client ,we should be friendly, our body language should make our client comfortable enough to share information with us.
