Notre Dame Mission Statement

Improved Essays
Final Arch is a class designed for all incoming freshman to take. The class teaches you all about Notre Dame, Catholicism, how to make it through four years alive and we had a little fun along the way. I will admit that I really did not want to take this class; I thought that it would be a waste of time and money. Contrary to what I thought I really enjoyed and was glad that I took this class. We talked about many different concepts over the semester. Three stood out to me the work of the Notre Dame Sisters, the city of Cleveland and The Freshman Survival Guide. We went over a lot of different concepts but these ones were definitely the most important in my eyes. The work that the Sisters of Notre Dame did to make this institution is incredible. The never give up, against all odds mentality that those women had was the reason that this college is where it is today. It really gives you a sense of pride to attend Notre Dame. Now knowing that I also have a new drive to be like the Sisters and never give up, something I think will really help me out over the next four years. As I said in a paper I turned in earlier. I have been to Cleveland a million times in my life. So coming to a school just outside of Cleveland seemed to make perfect class. I thought I knew all of the things that Cleveland had to offer. But this class shed light on so many things about Cleveland that I didn’t even know about. University Circle is full of so many things to do; I didn’t know anything about University Circle before ARCH. Now I am aware of all the museums, sights, concerts and food that is available to me the next four years. Lastly the Freshman Survival Guide taught me how to survive not only my freshman year but all four years of college. Again it was a book I wasn’t really looking forward to reading; I thought it was going to be full of things I already know. But again to my surprise it was full of useful information from studying, living on my own and college life. Reading was key in this class as it is in most classes. Weather it was Eboo or the Survival Guide. But Moodle was very useful in this class. Everything was laid out and easy to find on Moodle. It could have been difficult to do figure out what needed to be done. I also really liked all of the classroom discussion that we had; it allowed me to see different viewpoints which in return allowed me to develop and opinion on the topic. Eboo really changed my opinion on interfaith cooperation. I knew that the world as a whole needed to really work on this cooperation. But reading Eboo’s book and listening to him speak it is quite apparent that the …show more content…
Take a walk around campus and it is apparent that Notre Dame College lives this statement. So many different races of students prove we are very diverse. I think all of us are little bit like the Sisters of Notre Dame, we all want to improve upon ourselves and the world. The mission statement really sums up the college and the staff/students. We are full of many different people that don’t give up want to improve upon themselves and the

My first example that I found most endearing to me is my research topic this semester on “Babies behind bars with their incarcerated mothers”. It presented much analysis on the truth, accuracy, along with the presentation of evidence. I chose that specific topic because I felt as though the problem deserves more light to it because it's not much of a known topic, but I thought it was important to let my fellow classmates know about how important this topic is and why it should be made more known around the world. The babies’ social, biological, and logical development is at stake if they aren’t kept with birth mothers depending on the mother's charges. I learned from my…

Scholarship, leadership, character, and service has shaped me to the person I am today. Today, I am involved in my community, top ten student, and a leader in my school. Although, this would have occurred without the four pillars of National Honor Society. As a child, I wanted to be a member of the National Honor Society but it was only a dream. Shortly after I had imagined myself as a member, my parents had passed away in a car accident.…

The two topics that resonated with me were Micro-aggression and the privilege statements. The statements made me realize that we take certain things that are so “normal” for granted. Simple privileges that I take for granted do not have to worry about where my next meal is coming from and that I press the handicapped button to open the door because it’s convenient. Like most of us college students that live on campus we have a meal plan but what about if you live off campus or simply aren’t in school at all? I never think about the individuals that aren’t in the same predicament as me.…

The four pillars of National Honor Society- scholarship, leadership, service, and character- have almost solely shaped my development. I pride myself in being true to all four of these pillars, in both my daily life, as well as who I am overall. I feel as if each of these virtues represents a fourth of who I hope I am; someone who values learning, is a fair leader, dedicates herself to her community, and leads a moral life. My high school career has been stressful because it is an immense amount of work to excel in each of these categories, but I couldn't be happier with where that work has put me. I am proud to be the person I am today.…

I believe that the role of an ARCH is to assist in the academic progress of students in their hall, and even around campus. An ARCH can also provide awareness to the different educational supportive services that are available to all students of Northwest. This awareness and assistance can be provided in many ways, such as holding events on the ARCH's floor, educating students on the different services that are available. An ARCH can also act as a role model for students around campus, and even other ARCH staff…
