If you ever chose to be an R.A in college then you will probably be in your room all the time, and if you're not in your room all the time then you will probably be expected to. Because you will have to be in the principal's office grading papers also you will need to take care of other people's needs. Including your classes and your extracurricular programs you will have a lot to do.But it's not all the time because you still have time to have fun and hang out with your friends when you're done with

Personally, college is a different environment compared to what high school students are used to. College teaches students to be more independent relying on ourselves to take care of our studies and learning process. Take High School for example. High School teachers will constantly remind students of deadlines for assignments while professors could care less if students missed the deadline. Because college students are considered more “mature”, students are required to manage their own time checking due dates for each class themselves.…

I anticipate my lifestyle changing a small bit, if I was to become a Residential Assistant. Although the position of being an RA comes before any other commitments, I feel that it will still be possible to balance my social life and continually see my friends. The only main change I foresee is that I will have to watch how I act and what I say. I need to set an example and be a role model. People cannot do that if they act irresponsibly and negatively with their friends or residents.…

I feel they do this because they can share their own experiences to make sure we are as prepared as possible to be a resident assistant. The student staff in the class can also provide us with tips and helpful information in order for us to be top notch resident assistants. The thing I found most interesting from the discussion about student staff on January 8th, was how many people in the class thought that the “The RA is a staff member/Office of Housing and Residence Life employee” function was one of the top. Yes, a resident assistant is an employee, but I would never want to look at it as a job because I want it to be something I thoroughly enjoy. Being a resident assistance would be something that would require a lot of work, but in the end something which makes you feel…

When we are young and commit mistakes, it is easy to blame on parents, teachers, or siblings in order to mentally make ourselves feel better about our own fault. In college, I will not be able to blame anybody for missing registration to classes, or missing an important deadline. Taking full responsibility for my actions will give me a hard time in my college career, since I have never been completely by myself. However, without a doubt, acting responsibly is the quality that gives meaning to our lives and allows us to develop personality, establish profound relationships, and get an advantage in the labor market. Additionally, the only way to overcome the fear of taking responsibility of myself is to start realizing that things will change…

Ever since being a part of this lab, I have had much of a learning experience. My research focused on genetically fine mapping a specific region of a gene in pearl millet plants that translates into bristle production. This required me to plant and maintain F2 seedlings and screen them for recombination. I would not have known how meticulous every task in an experimental procedure must be before I started working in this lab. Having this role has taught me persistence even with issues with results.…

On August 13th, 1831 Nat Turner, an African American slave, brought about an insurrection against white families in Virginia. This revolt was very ruthless and indiscriminate in its slaughtering of entire white families and is considered the most successful slave rebellion of the old south. While Nat Turner had very personal reasons for the acts he committed, we can figure out the core reasons for slave resistance, by looking at the major principles of slave culture. Specifically, two major aspects of slave culture that gave slaves, including Nat Turner, reasons to rebel are the principles of religion and the family. By exploring these topics, the rationality behind Nat Turner’s rebellion becomes easier to understand.…
