Introduction
Nursing is a profession within the health sector requiring inspiring role models and nurse leaders. Today's demanding healthcare society greatly challenges the Nursing boards and educational institutions to identify and develop capable nurse leaders. The description of leadership is very complex. Research conducted over the years concludes, no clear or constant definition or theory of leadership exists (Atsalos & Greenwood, 2001; Grossman & Valiga,2012; Mannix, Wilkes, & Daly, 2013, Josephine Scully N 2014).
It is imperative that nursing professionals identify the leadership styles and theories relevant to their relevant practice. Being an expert in recognizing these, enables nurses to develop their ability to become

The writer will outline various skills in nursing leadership and management, its importance in advancing the profession; clarify definitions and differentiate between nurse managers and nurse leaders; describe the evolution of leadership by theories and styles relevant to nursing practice; and will discuss two leadership skills the nurse leader has applied in the operating theatre in an attempt to develop a working environment that will have a positive impact on the organizational target achievement.
Leadership in Nursing Leadership Excellency is vital in health care, and it has been emphasized in the number of research by various writers (Dunham and Fisher, 1990; Sutherland and Dodd, 2008). Leadership in the nursing field is fundamental as nurses form the greatest population in the healthcare sector.(Oliver, 2006; Sullivan and Garland, 2010). However, the taking on a leadership role is not sufficient to be an effective leader. The leader ought to be knowledgeable with current trends and updates in the healthcare sector and efficient in applying leadership skills within their scope of practice.

According to Marquis and Huston (2009), presently there is still some uncertainty about the connection between leadership and management. Some view leadership as one of the numbers of functions of managers, while others disagree that the skill required for leadership are more intricate than those required for management.
