The reason for choosing this topic was that we are interested in what makes a person be a leader, and to know more about a managers role in a organization. What does it take to be a leader and how traits of personality help in achieving organizational goals. Are leaders born or it’s their experience during their lifetime that makes them leaders. What is a manager responsible for and are they sufficiently prepared for the job. To understand better the purpose of this research paper we have to look at diverse concepts and strategies and explore the main characteristics, skills and traits that build up a leader, and how managers differ from them. This topic is in reality slightly studied in the context of Albania and we evaluate that literature …show more content…
Manager’s role in any organization, not only in Albania is to carry out the four functions of management, including leading, organizing, planning and controlling. Now although the first functions of management is leadership that does not mean that all managers are leaders. This is because not every manager can communicate, inspire, motivate and encourage other employees. Do all of those items just listed. A worker will follow the commands of a manager for how to do a job because they have to, in the other hand a worker will willingly follow the directions of a leader because they have faith in who they are as an individual, what they stand for and for the manner in which they are inspired by their leader. Managers are task-oriented while leaders are people-oriented; leaders want to achieve while managers want results; As I mentioned earlier in this paper some mangers in Albania have a lack of managerial knowledge and because of this for them it’s not only more difficult to lead but to communicate, plan and organize as well. In the other hand a leadership doesn’t need to hold a management position. A leader will show passion and desire in the accomplishment of his employees reaching their objectives, which can be different from organizational goals. A leader leads based on strengths, not titles. Now let’s take a look at Albanian Organizations and their Autocratic leadership style. From my point of view here in Albania the leadership style is like McGregor ‘Theory X', which stresses the importance of strict supervision and external rewards and penalties. A lot of leaders and managers in Albania think that their employees usually not only want the control, but they need it. If we consider this opinion than employees prefer to avoid working, therefore we are left with pressure, achieving goals with pressure. Styles of leadership are frequently made from the encouragement of organizational factors such as the national culture, nature of work and organizational values, but in Albania and other regional countries, value it’s an unknown word for some organization members including leaders. From my experience our society is selfish, therefore they have a hard time getting along in teams. Our actual leadership style is a succession of old mentality. The autocratic leadership style is not a problem with the Albanian organizations, but it is an inner problem of Albanian mentality as a whole. Here we find ourselves
