In order for the human body to function properly, an individual needs a variety of different sources. Proteins are considered a key source that is needed in the human body and are essential to one’s diet. This is true because proteins inhabit a spot in every cell in an individual’s body. Therefore, individual’s need to consume a large amount of protein in order to maintain good health. Proteins are essential to a variety of different functions for one’s body but are said to help with muscle growth and maintenance, bone health, and even weight management. Proteins provide the human body with a multitude of functions such as messengers, enzymes, antibodies, structural components, or even transportation and storage.5
Once protein has entered the body, it is digested in the stomach and small intestines. During digestion, protein molecules are broken down into amino acids. These amino acids are produced in an individual’s body by building off other amino acids or made entirely new.1 Once an amino acid is broken down in the …show more content…
The formation of the different amino acids in one’s body makes the different proteins.5 The variety of amino acids that exists in an individual are involved in the extensive process of protein synthesis for the body. The amalgamation of these standard amino acids provides an individual with every protein needed to keep the human body stable.6 In general, amino acids can be broken down into three subgroups: essential, nonessential, or conditional. The order of amino acids in an individual’s body will establish the 3-D dimension that specific protein obtains, as well as the particular function of the specific protein.5 Each of these three subgroups of amino acids provide the body with different necessities. About half of the standard amino acids one posses are considered essential amino
