The Giver Character Traits

In Chapter Three of the novel The Giver by Lois Lowry, Jonas, an eleven year old boy, experiences unique emotions because of his rare traits. For example, Jonas becomes furious and annoyed with his younger sister Lily when she rudely comments on the way Jonas’ eyes appear a strikingly pale gray, while mostly everybody else where’s matching deep, dark eyes. This shows that Jonas’ unique trait causes him feelings of non acceptance because he lives in a place with extremely strict rules on adhering to uniformity. This also causes Jonas to question the reality of his community as if everyone else is different, or if the kids with pale eyes are the only normal out of all the strange. Jonas also happens to discover an odd vision change playing catch
