Mr. Baumer is in fact guilty, he murdered Slade. He made sure Slade continuously drank his alcohol, then he put poison in its place. He knew Slade wouldn’t be able to read the label so it was perfect. He could even use the excuse that he froze to death, but it was clearly Mr. Baumer. Baumer is in fact not guilty for the murder of Slade. It was clearly the cold that drove Slade to his terrible state, not wood alcohol. If Slade even drank the wood alcohol, that was a mistake. Not only because it was Mr. Baumer’s, but because he couldn’t read, and he didn’t know what was in it. This was not driven by Mr. Baumer’s need for revenge, it was driven by Slade need for alcohol.
