The Truth behind the Business Strategy of Outsourcing The United States is one of the richest countries in the world, admired by other countries because of its strategic level of productivity and consumerism. To maintained the United States high demand, the country must adopt and develop new innovations in order to compete with other markets. Because the goal of most businesses is to create profit, the United States is one of the main countries to take their business to cheaper markets with the objective to increase profits by reducing labor cost and operating expenses. Outsourcing means “the usage of outside vendors to produce goods or fulfill services and functions that were previously handled in-house or in-country” (Boone & Kurtz, 2015).…
In the film, Brewster’s Millions, Montgomery Brewster, a former minor league baseball pitcher, has the opportunity to inherit $300 million from his late great-uncle. In order to do so, he must spend $30 million in 30 days under a complicated set of rules brought forward by the law office of Granville & Baxter. Throughout the 30 days, Brewster experiences a rollercoaster ride, facing many ups and downs, but ultimately is able to inherit the grand prize. In my scenario, I have to spend $2 billion in 30 days and the same set of rules brought forward in the movie apply.…
In general, the Civil War was one of America’s historical war and after the war many blacks wanted to know what lies ahead for them. They have been promise freedom, legal emancipation from slavery and economic opportunities, but majority of the blacks had no land of their own, they were unemployed, and didn’t have political rights and no protection (Robin D. G. Kelley, 2000, p. 3). However, many landowners had small farms, but they were short of laborers and they were looking for ways on how to supplement their slaves lost and they needed some field hands to farm their land for production. Therefore, this created a need and that void was replaced by sharecroppers which is defined as working for a piece of land by a tenant in exchange for cash…
Part 1: Description of the Rules/Premise/Game Play (How Does it Function as an Economic Model) (Describe how the game’s rules, premise, and game play can be understood from an economic perspective.) Settlers of Catan is a trading game in which players build capital and harvest resources. The game functions as a closed economy, in which opportunity costs, price of a good, and access to a good are constant, although trading with others does reflect some changes in relative prices. The object of the game is to be first to attain ten ‘victory points’. At the start of the game, the players are allowed to place two ‘settlements’ – each worth…
In 2015, the city of Boise began ticketing and arresting the homeless for the lone fact that they lacked a permanent place to live. Going out of its way to create new laws banning common behaviors associated with the homeless community, such as lying down in public, sharing food, and sitting on the sidewalk. Rather than dealing with the issue of homelessness head on Boise chose to harass the homeless with the hopes that they would gather their things and leave. For a short span of time, this method did act as a ‘resolution' for Idaho’s high homeless rates. However in time the rates were put back in its original place as the homeless community found methods to avoiding the strict policies.…
Hike the hill was a great experience that I am proud that I could be a part of. I did not watch the webinar as it was broadcasted live, instead I chose to watch both webinars the day before to keep all the information fresh in head. The webinar itself was easy to understand and an effective enough to prepare me for what experienced at the actual hike the hill event. Legislative issues OT’s are facing that was brought to my attention via the webinar were how the school districts are not honoring the years of service beyond 2 years for OTs. So, an occupational therapist who has been practicing for 5 plus years would not be rightfully compensated which leads to a cluster detrimental factors that affect the students.…

Words will always be with us even when we have nothing. The Rent Collector is a book about Sang Ly, a girl in a Cambodian dump who learns how to read to make a better life for her family. Through her experience she learns how important words are.…
As I walk into the room with my hot cup of coffee, I notice the full circle of chairs with bodies sitting and discussing with intensity the concept of renting versus buying a home. I listen for a while to see exactly what everyone is saying. Majority of the room claim that renting a home is better than actually owning a home for several reasons to include no property taxes, no maintenance problems, and no debt. Essentially they are arguing that it is extremely costly to own a home because when you buy a home you are taking on a massive amount of debt that usually takes anywhere from fifteen to thirty years to pay off. They are stating before you can even move into the house you are required to pay closing cost fees and a twenty percent down…
As similar are the two may be in terms of wealth accumulation, both economic systems have several differences that significantly distinguish one from the other. Mercantilism was a popular economic system in Europe from the 6th to the 18th century. Capitalism is an economic system where the means of production are privately owned and centered on the generation of profit. Mercantilism was based on the state accumulating wealth and power by controlling the nation’s economy at the expense of another. In contrast, most forms of capitalism operate without government intervention.…

In a study discussed in USA Today in reference to the year 2007, roughly 1.6 million individuals entered shelters or other forms of homeless housing (National Coalition for the Homeless, 2011). It is impossible to measure with 100% accuracy the amount of individuals who have experienced homelessness over the years, however research has shown that over the past few decades the capacity of transitional housing and emergency shelters has tripled, in order to attempt to accommodate the rising rates of individuals without homes. Although the exact amount of individuals who are considered homeless cannot be calculated, it can be estimated that nearly 3.5 million individuals experience homelessness every year, 1.35 million of them being children (National…
Free market is often a term used to describe buyers and sellers in a market who can buy and sells goods at any given price. Rational buyers are part of the market and are said to buy the product if he or she thinks its worth it. This is said to lead to optimal satisfaction. A free market system maximizes the overall good of society. In a free market any good can be sold at any time, its just whether the customer will buy it…
The cost-cutting tactics is a reassessment of the organization’s current position and review of processes to eliminate, restructure or consolidate services for efficiency and renegotiate better rates with vendors (Zhao, 2014). Therefore, LCM will also have to delay capital spending to achieve these objectives (Herman, 2012). For example, decreasing the use of supplies and encourage staff to recycle any unused medicines or supplies can help cut cost. Inventory of supplies not commonly use can be eliminated from the supply order and cheaper alternatives could reduce the cost of…
