Hike the hill was a great experience that I am proud that I could be a part of. I did not watch the webinar as it was broadcasted live, instead I chose to watch both webinars the day before to keep all the information fresh in head. The webinar itself was easy to understand and an effective enough to prepare me for what experienced at the actual hike the hill event. Legislative issues OT’s are facing that was brought to my attention via the webinar were how the school districts are not honoring the years of service beyond 2 years for OTs. So, an occupational therapist who has been practicing for 5 plus years would not be rightfully compensated which leads to a cluster detrimental factors that affect the students. Also, schools have a hard time recruiting ESAs because the salary scale is so low, which turns into a high turnover rate when the schools do finally get some to commit to the job.
