When people think about moments or people the defines 1970’s they think of music, hippies, Vietnam war, and the war on peace. Ultimately we begin to see bright colors, peace movements and new music such as rock, punk rock and disco and music artists such as The Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson and Jackson 5. All in which were, and still are huge icons in the music industry. According to Classic70’s.com this type of “feel good” music inspired people to have parties that revolved around people dressing like hippies wearing bright bell bottom pants and a bright crop top. In the 70’s dating was considered as “going out” with someone that you thought was cute. A typical date was going to the movies or going out to dinner and the guy would pick up the girl at the door with flowers, at school the guy would walk to girl to class (Pruitt). The daughters dad would always be skeptical of the guy because it’s the moment of letting go. Today dads still have the mindset and outlook that “all guys are bad” but dating is much different. Social media has taken over the whole idea of dating because it's easier to communicate however it creates problems with relationships because it's easy for lying and cheating. In the 70’s you physically had to pick up the phone and call the other person if you wanted to talk or talk in person. Today you can pick up your cell phone and send a quick text or snapchat. Ultimately this takes away the whole idea of communication and having meaningful face to face conversations. In the 70’s “certain social expectations changed also. Instead of couples marrying in their early twenties, they married later. Often men and women graduated college without yet entering into a serious, let alone permanent, relationship” (Neuman M.D). This is because people wanted to have their education come first so they could be successful on their own. Today many people look for relationships first and become reliant on each other to support a family. Education today is very important, however school has become very hard over the years which is why people look for relationships first compared to the
