If the state takes plastic bags out of the grocery stores people can use paper bags. If there is a problem with something just remove the problem. If people don't have the choice of paper or plastic, and they have to use paper the environment will be much healthier.
So in my opinion charging tax on plastic bags is just not a good idea. People cannot afford groceries especially if they have to pay for the bags. People will continue to buy plastic bags when the whole point of charging people is for them to stop using them, and if they continue to buy them the bags will continue to be hurting the environment. And if you just eliminate the problem and just get rid of plastic bags in general, people won’t have a choice of plastic bags.
