Spencer was a sexual psychopath. Strangulation is a very personal crime and this leads me to believe he had problems with women. This could have derived from his childhood. It is possible that the offender placed them face down because he did not want them to look him in the face while he strangled them. It is possible that they were face down throughout the whole attack, which makes me wonder if he would have been able to go through with the crime if the victims were looking at him. This offender sodomized his victims to inflict more pain in them than he had already caused by raping them.
