As we know, adolescence can be a challenging time for many young People. This can cause social isolation and stigma which can cause bullying and negativity from other students.
As a social worker my duty would be to make the student feel as safe and accepting of themselves. To do this I would have to do research myself and learn the difficulties the LGBTQ community goes through daily. With this knowledge I can counsel the student emotionally, and physically so they can be comfortable in stepping out of their bubble and learn and enjoy as much as their peers.
The other step to this solution is the education of this subject. I believe the students and staff of the schools should be aware of the LGBTQ community and their needs. We should educate and train the educators, therapists and social workers more about the LGBTQ community, so they do not have negative attitudes towards these students and the students won’t hesitate to meet and talk to an adult about the issues going on in their daily lives.

Diversity is an important factor of social work, because as a social work professional we will be meeting with many different groups of people who share difference cultures, races or ethnicities. In order for the social worker to develop diversity ability, we must take a broad approach to understand diversity. As a social worker myself who would have to work with clients from different backgrounds I would have to learn about many cultures and how they play an important role in my client’s life. I would need to very respectful and always be open minded to learn and to add more to be able to understand from the client’s perspective. This way the client can also be comfortable in sharing their struggle with me, if they feel that the social worker they are working with understands their point of
