Ricardo Role In Law Enforcement Case Study

Improved Essays
Ricardo saw his role in his safety and the safety of others from a different stance. He described his role more in an internet safety kind of way rather than physical safety. He explained that his role was to watch what he posted on social media whether it was directed toward someone or he was just posting for his own amusement. When I explained to him how I saw it more as we need to take care of ourselves first so we can ultimately take care of others, he expressed to me that he like my point of view and agreed with me. Since we were on the topic of social media I went ahead and asked him how internet regulations increased or decreased personal, community, or national security. He felt that internet and technological regulations increase national …show more content…
There were not too many distractions and we were mostly on the same page. There were things like law enforcement and the privacy of citizens and non-citizens that we did not see eye to eye on, but we did not let that ruin the conversation. We let one another say what was on our mind and then we explain why we disagreed with each other. For me, it was not that I completely disagreed with his point of view on law enforcement I just felt that he thought so highly of them even though there have been several cases of law enforcement being too brutal to some civilians and I wanted to hear his thoughts on that matter. For the privacy of citizens and non-citizens part of the conversation, I did not understand how it would work to take privacy away of only those who are threating to the safety of the country and its citizens. I explained to him that in order for that to happen they would have to see who is a threat by taking a bit of everyone’s privacy. The rest of the conversation went smoothly since our opinions were not that different. One of the reasons I feel we agree on so many aspects of the topics is because we both come from very similar backgrounds, and another reason may be because of the time and place we were raised in. We practically grew up together in a small town, so I believe we were bound to have a similar view on a couple ideas, but since we both went different ways in life I was expecting more disagreement. It is reassuring though that someone else also has a similar view on these topics as

Critical Element 1 Law Enforcement David was consonantly at the bottom end of cases assigned in the district. Sense the month of May except in two month the District Ranger had more cases assigned to him than David did and during those months David only had one more case in one month and three more in another month. The District Rangers job requires him to be out of the field at least 70% more than a field ranger. We also had a new hirer in the district that arrived on site in the middle of July she has had more cases assigned to her during that time than David has. If this trend continues of not conducting Law Enforcement and criminal interdiction, I will be forced to give a rating of Minimally successful or Unsatisfactory.…

The criminal justice system is influenced by many factors, one of the most important being society (Kraska 296). Late modernity makes sense of criminal justice behavior by situating the criminal justice apparatus within larger social, cultural and political contexts (296). This orientation has as much to do with understanding the times we live in, as with understanding the criminal justice system (296). Late modernity also places a premium on understanding the entire landscape instead of focusing primarily on the criminal justice system (296). This broader focus allows for policy creation that benefits society and the criminal justice system.…

Many of us are oblivious to how far the government is willing to go to uncover any secrets or imminent threats. In Peter Singer’s essay, Visible Man, we explore how we have currently encircled ourselves in an environment that calculates our every choice and action because we constantly reveal our information. Singer explains how we have deliberately invited the government into our private lives.…

Technology is neither good nor bad; nor is it neutral. Technology is simply a tool for our lives, and we get to chose whether we allow it to be for good or for bad. In Sherry Turkle’s book entitled Reclaiming Conversation, she addresses the issue of the misuse of technology in the everyday incorporation of it in the lives of people just like us. Turkle does not write this book to show how technology is ruining our lives and creating a dumb generation, while some might argue it is, but rather to show that technology is a great advancement in human history that like many other things has been distorted. She tackles the issues of empathy and romance and the effect technology has made on these emotions in every day places such as the family, workplace,…
