When a child is abused and neglected, the child is impacted in many aspects. The issue of child abuse and neglect can be examine through the Ecological Theory. The article titled “An Ecological Approach for Social Work Practice” Pardeck, (1988) argues the ecological theory is one that consists of the self, families, the neighborhood, and the entire community. Due to these different environments it can affect a child’s life either in a good way or not. For example, a child who is abused and neglected at home will have difficulties in developing a positive perspective about his teachers and might also isolate and disconnect himself from his peers.
