To be alone is like to be in a crowded room full of people. Just it’s all inside your head. Yes there are times when it’s peace and quiet and that is often what we look or in our solitude, but the narrator of “The Wanderer” finds that it is not so easy to be alone even when only to ones thoughts. He has many inner conflicts with being gone and alone and away from the ones he cares about and the things he had, but he loves his life of adventure and his curiosity roams his mind just as he roams the fields and forests and swamps of the world. He finally soothes the beast in his head and comes to find that as soon as the conflict in his head is gone he can find the happiness and peace of being alone. Lastly, the passage, “Wife’s Lament” says that it’s okay to move on. The narrator of this passage is a woman who is abandoned by her man, who has to leave to somewhere. She goes on and on for what seems like forever about how unhappy she is about him being gone. All though in the end if only she were to move on she would find happiness in other aspect of her life, it wouldn’t even have to be from a man, but it could come from other passions in her
