- The central idea of this speech is to make the audience aware of the wonders that exist in the making of wood bowls and the importance of its history that associate to the title of the wood bowl he is presenting, “ties to our past”. He wants to inform his audience why he considers such thing a form of art and how its beauty and quality can create something of lasting value on a person.
2. What signposts/transitions were used to take the speaker from one point to the next? Were they strong or weak?
The speaker uses several signpost during the speech in order to shift from one point to another. For example, the speaker starts going into more detail about the history of wood bowls and his research on them in order to transition to the main point. Additionally, the speaker would also go off topic in order for the audience to understand the value and importance of the creation of wood bowls, which were one of the points he wanted to get across. As a whole, the signposts the speaker would use were somewhat weak, for some of his points were irrelevant to this central idea.
