Minimum Wage should not be raised because it is a sneaky way to increase welfare spending and raise taxes. Raising the minimum wage puts money in the pockets of working poor people, at the expense of business owners. To increase the income tax credit or other work-related welfare benefits, politicians should do the hard work of building political support for such policies, rather than choosing the roundabout approach of a minimum wage increase. Minimum wage would also eliminate jobs. Jobs such as McDonald’s, Burger King, Subway, and other fast food restaurants are just jobs that are a stepping stone to a better job.
