Raging Bull Essay Questions

Good Afternoon Jake, I’m sorry that I haven’t provided you with the right answer yet, but I’m glad that I have answered all of your prior questions. Raging Bull, a film by Martin Scorsese, one of his finest at that. Although the violence inside of the ring is a bit bloody, it doesn’t compare to the violence outside of the ring that is driven by a sexual obsession surrounding Vicky, Jake LaMotta’s wife, Joey, Jake's, brother and Joey’s friend Salvy. Does the cinematography create a personal level between Jake LaMotta and the audience, sure, but the film does showcase how men horrifically abused their family, as well as interrogated them every time they came in the door. Personally, I detest Raging Bull because it has such a strong domestic

Li Ang’s “The lost Garden” and Ang Lee’s “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” are both stories with love as a central theme, both these works however touch on more than just that. Gender issues are addressed in both works; while they may differ in representation both show the inner workings of the male and female roles in Asian culture. With a strong patriarchal figure in Li Ang’s novel, compared to the strong female charters in Ang Lee’s film. The use of class systems is also represented in both works. An example being the contrast of the newly rich construction developers, versus the prestigious families that date back centuries.…

Outsiders: Movie v. Book S.E. was in high school when she wrote the book the Outsiders . Also fun fact about the movie is the scripts were taken right out of the book. I would say that the book was more effective, and had a lot more details. The movie was good but I didn’t like how they skipped a few parts that were in the book. While the book and movie have many similarities and differences, the ( book ) was more effective in telling the story.…

The movie, “Border Bandits” was produced and directed by Kirby Warnock, the grandson of Roland Warnock, and included the real voice of Roland Warnock to describe the events occurred in 1915. The movie featured the role of Mexican Immigrants and Texas Rangers. The story began through the rise of Mexican banditos raiding the McAllen Ranch, one of the largest in South Texas. Then, several Texas Rangers arrived and eliminated the perpetrators, but it does not reveal the entire story. It started with Ronald Warnock, a young teen cowboy who worked on the neighboring Guadalupe Ranch, witnessed two murders when he saw Texas Rangers shoot two unarmed men in the back and just left their bodies by the side of the road.…

Freedom of speech has always been a topic of conversation on whether or not we really have it, or it’s portrayed like we do so the American people can be content. There is plenty of proof on the fact that our freedom of speech is actually being taken away from us. Even now as our generation is more open minded, it doesn’t mean that we allow for anyone to have what they think is right, heard. Then whenever we question that our right is being taken away, we are meant with critiques that we are just babies and Liberal snowflakes that don’t really know what it is to not have freedom of speech. There are cases like with what happened with the San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, which was taking a stand by kneeling during the national anthem as a way to protest against…

Thelma and Louise, a film by Carolyn Ann Khouri, trails the liberations of two working class women in the 90’s. These women plan a weekend away from the men in their lives due to the fact that Thelma’s husband is a misogynistic man who feels that a woman’s job consists only of housework and cooking. In the first scene of the movie Thelma wants to ask her husband, Darryl, for permission to go on the trip with Louise. He yells at her and she quickly changes the subject. In my opinion, this is one of the most crucial scenes in the entire film because it outlines the sexism and discrimination that these two women will face throughout the course of the movie.…

Every member of the family loses some kind of innocence, because of the violence they witness or perform. The film did an excellent job showing the different dynamics an abusive relationship encounters. It demonstrated how the children where all affected differently by their parents relationship. What started as a short story written for a Harvard writing class, life mirrored art ever so slightly for Matt Damon when he wrote Good Will Hunting—earning an A for his work on the assignment and an Oscar for his work on the screenplay for the film. The two childhood friends from the south side of Boston, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, wrote a script together that some might say is the greatest piece of writing ever done for a film. The two of them sold the script and turned it into a movie that opened in 1997 and became the start of their fame that initiated the assent from small time actors into two of the most well-known movie stars and screenwriters. “Good Will Hunting,” directed by Gus Van Sant, centers around the life of the reluctant genius…

The texts ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’, written by Harper Lee and ‘12 Angry Men’ directed by Sidney Lumet; both display contrasting features and qualities. While both are very diverse texts, they both share an undeniable resemblance, in relation to a single person affecting a group 's idea of a just and morally right decision. Prejudice and discrimination are a reflection of how both the accused characters in either text sway opinions about which course of action is correct. Two of the protagonists, Atticus Finch and Juror 8, exemplify how a single individual can drastically change what those around them perceive to be right and wrong. Children in both texts, specifically Jem and scout, and Juror 3’s son, are also an example of how one person…

I decided to take a different approach to my critical film review. “Inside Out” is a recently new film that does not actually have an identified therapist or client. However, the main themes of the movie have many parallels to the content that we have been learning in class. “Inside Out” is a Disney Pixar movie that brings to life the five emotions (Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear, and Sadness) of 11-year-old Riley. Life is seemingly going smoothly for Riley and her emotions.…
