The movie Flyboys was historically accurate and representative to WW1. The director showed great realistic events that did and could have happened in the war. The clothing represented was similar to what a pilot in WW1 would have worn and how the pilot used specific tactics and techniques to attack while flying. In the following these arguments will be more fully explained in how they made Flyboys a historically accurate movie.
The realistic events that happened in the movie Flyboys could very easily happen to someone/something in real life. When the one pilot Jensen got shot in the shoulder he went into a shock that has happened to many soldiers in the war, it was a common state that many soldiers experienced. Many pilots did respect each other and in one incident when the pilots from the French side survived a crash and was then later shot down was disrespectful and a German spared James life by not killing him when he had the chance to easily kill him. The movie Flyboys also included a famous German ace from WW1, the Red Baron, thus making the movie more accurate. Aircraft balloons were also included and were very flammable as shown when Cassidy crashes into it creating a large explosion. The uniforms had to be warm and wind resistant; Flyboys represented the uniform in a proper manner and showed great accuracy. They had the leather jackets to keep warm from the wind; the pilots had the leather caps also with the glass goggles to help protect their head and eyes. Leather gloves were also used in the movie to keep hands warm, and the scarf was clearly demonstrated in the movie as not as fashion accessories but as a means of keeping your neck protected from wind and strain when looking around for enemy planes.
