Rabi Federow: A Serious Study

Improved Essays
hank you to the conservative moment. Thank you Beit Dein and those in position; such as Cantor Neil Schwartz. It has been an epic, serious study of the last five years (although really more; read below) and I am grateful to Rabi Federow for understanding my faith. I am excited for the former Orthodox congregation and the roots of tradition. Deciding not to convert was a personal decision after taking the class for two years (back to back). It was a personal decision – I do not think Rabbi Federow agreed or understood, but to live as a foreigner amongst Jews was wonderful. The congregation at Haashar Shalom loved us, waiting for affirmation to convert and was patient, never pushy. We were pleased at Haashar Shalom and always grateful.

Visiting Sha’ ar Zahav was definitely like visiting a synagogue like no other. The first thing that you notice right through the door is that someone has been posted to specifically greet everyone who comes in and explain what type of synagogue they are. Out of all the synagogues, I felt the most welcomed in by Sha’ ar Zahav. Everything from how they pray to the way the torah is covered has something to say about their ideology. It is clear that they don’t follow Halakhah nearly as strictly as the previous Orthodox Synagogue.…

In my research, I was directed to a blog and article about this teacher in Florida and her Jehovah's Witness student. The incident took place on September 11, 2013, and it was over the Pledge of Allegiance. A fourth-grade Jehovah's Witness boy was standing for the pledge, but his hand was not on his heart. Why are you applying for this position? I think the new member education program is essential for the transitioning new sister in determining if Delta Zeta is the right fit for her. If the process goes the way it is supposed to, it will make the young women excited to wake up and call herself a sister in our chapter. For myself, it’s crucial to be a part of changes that influenced yourself in some way. For just going through the process myself, I think the program was great; however, I want to be a part of the team to make it even better.…

“The Bible, Africa, and the Church in the Postmodern Era” Another key point, as leaders, pastors, etc. there must be an understanding of the word “postmodern” in order to see the impact it has in African American churches today. If understanding correctly, postmodern thinking implies pleasing people rather than God is okay. In other words, forbidden things are acceptable now; having no biblical insight, denial of absolute and objective truth is the current fade, also to some God really don’t exist. However, it is important to remember Scriptures will clarify all the deceptive, misleading of the postmodern era.…

When my parents informed me of a possible trip to Israel last spring, I brushed it off. There had been so many times that they had suggested trips that eventually fizzled out when we couldn’t get it together in time. This prospective trip to Israel was different, though: it would include my Dad’s parents, brother and niece and it would occur in tangential celebration of my brother’s thirteenth birthday. I say tangential because my family isn’t really Jewish and we certainly aren’t observant. My Dad is Jewish, he went to Hebrew school and had a bar mitzvah but my Mom is Christian, raised in a church-going household.…

It was a blustery and gloomy morning as I trudged along the weathered pavement to the entrance of the church. My Sympathetic Nervous System was revved up as I anticipated what lie behind the faded and chipped paint door.
