My strengths in conducting this interview were preparation, nonverbal delivery, and question asking. After having completed the background information and writing out all my questions I was extremely prepared for the interview. I have always been one to use gestures when I speak, and during my interview with Capizzo it was no different. A few times during the interview we got off topic and strayed from my planned questions. During that time, it took me longer than I would have liked to formulate new questions for topics I had not considered asking about. I was unprepared in that aspect but I learned more than I was hoping to about the process of acquiring clients and working for a public relations firm. Also, my interpersonal skills were weak. I have never been good at small talk, and it really showed in this interview. Between questions I gave short and quick responses, I found myself over using the words cool and great to the point where I probably sounded uninterested in what Capizzo had to say. Overall, my interview experience with Capizzo was informative and beneficial for my future career. He gave me a new perspective on the public relations industry. I believe that I can improve by first conducting less structured interviews with my family and friends where I have to think quick on my feet and keep the conversation flowing. In these interviews, the goal will be to have the interviewee take the conversation a different direction so I will have to create new questions of the top of my head. I think that working with people I am comfortable with will allow me to develop without fear of harsh judgement. My next step would be to move onto to conversations and interviews with people I am less comfortable with such as professors and TAs. The repetitive nature of my plan will allow me to increase my confidence. Through these interviews, conversations and discussions, hopefully I will develop an interveiw flow and style that will allow me to prosper in situations where I am interviewing and being interviewed. In later assignments, I can use this plan to strengthen my stories because I will have better interviews to draw information
