It was the year 1842 Edgar Allan Poe came out with a short story "The Pit and the Pendulum". A hundred and nineteen years later (1961) the movie of "The Pit and the Pendulum" came out. The movie was directed by Roger Corman. Which was just as artistically valid as the book if not more. He almost created his own story. He created his own interpretation of the story with a huge back story adding multiple characters that were not included into the book. If he were to name it something anything else there would be no correlations to the book; which in turn makes the movie one of the most artistically valid movies based on books of all
