Most songs on the radio today consist of lyrics. When an artist sits down to create music they are channeling a certain experience they may have had in their life. Whether that experience is heartbreak or a new relationship, even something that happened in the past. They put their feelings and experiences into the lyrics of their song. Some lyrics may have multiple meanings. In Kelly Clarksons song “Piece by Piece” she sings about the pain she felt toward her father leaving when she was young and the vow she has made to her daughter. Throughout the song she projects the pain she feels today about her father walking out on her. Having a father walk out on a child leaves the child with a permanent fear of everyone walking out of their life. As a young child Kelly felt sadness toward her father walking out. She took her father’s departure as something that was her fault feeling as though she did something wrong to cause her father to leave. When a child has a father walk out on them and their family they don’t quite understand why or what is happening. A child can’t easily grasp the concept of a father or parent leaving. Top Ten Christian band Twenty One Pilots declared its musical manifesto three years ago in the song “Car Radio,” “I will try with every rhyme to come across like I am dying to let you know you need to try to think.” Twenty One Pilots’ hit “Stressed Out” is currently played on secular radio stations across the country and in Europe, and the duo is selling out concerts at every venue. Even though they are open about their faith, the band continues to sneak like a hacker through the world’s default gospel-rejection mechanism. The most influential music in my life is the song “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. Both my dad and I love country music, especially Tim McGraw. My dad thinks the world of my older sister and I. Like any great father, he would do absolutely anything for his girls. Whenever he hears this song on the radio, or wherever, he turns the volume up and belts out this song. This song makes me so grateful that I have such a huge blessing as my father, I don’t know what I would ever do without him.…

It is definitely important to remember Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories because it helps us understand the hardships they faced as a culture and it can further help us recognise how we can close the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people share four main world views; culture, land, place and country and relationships. The world view, relationships, is conveyed many times in each of the literary texts by relating back to certain events that Aboriginal elders faced. Three texts that clearly represent the world view relationships are,; Change the Game, by the Colli Crew; Treaty, by Yothu Yindi and Took the Children Away, by Archie Roach. The Colli Crew’s song, Change the Game, is about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people- mostly describing the people of the past; in the text, it states that they are singing from north Queensland near the border.…

Love, despair, and forgiveness are song topics that most female country artist are known to sing about, whereas their male counterparts tend to sing about guns and beer and on occasion, about how much they love their woman after she has left him. Songs like “Wrong Song” and “Stand By Your Man” exemplified a woman’s the type of songs female country singers should be singing. For a long time, women have been seen to have etiquette, to be soft and fragile, but in this day and age no one seems to care about etiquette and what is the right or wrong thing to say.
