Women are being turned away from hospitals due to lack of resources, leading to severe health issues (Global Fund for Women). States are responsible for their own citizens as well as the refugees it accepts at times of need and are expected to provide for these women and children. Not only is health a concern for these refugee women, but so is access to education and workforce opportunities. Women in various third world countries are not permitted to the same level of education as men are. They are expected to do “womanly” duties such as house chores and caring for the children. All states are responsible for their citizens’ healthcare, equality of opportunity, and economic gains. If offending states such as Turkey, Africa, and Brazil are not held accountable for the mistreatment of women, then changes will not be made.
