I can remember every single detail and every event that led me to meeting some of the most fantastic people I will ever know. I remember it was November 12th, and I saw a post on Tumblr from a blog I follow, run by a transgender boy named Mikey from Vina, talking about seeing a band, FrnkIero andthe Cellabration live. I also happened to like this band, so we started talking, and I asked my mom if I could go to the concert, even though it was 2 hours away in San Francisco, and to my surprise, she said yes. We started talking back and forth through asks on Tumblr until we exchanged Kik usernames and started talking through there. Then one day, on January 11th, I met 2 more people going to the concert. One was a girl whose name is Cosmic, and …show more content…
I call Mikey and ask if he can pick me up from Pinkberry and he says yes and within 15 minutes he was there and we were on our way to the venue. We got to the venue and the show had already started, but it was the first opening band playing so I didn’t really care. The line was still long even after the show had started, but we got in before the first band stopped. Lydia and Cosmic were already in the venue in the crowd, but me and Mikey went and bought to buy our merchandise. Mikey was texting Cosmic, trying to find them in the crowd, and we tried worming our way through but couldn’t get to where they were. The first band had finished their set by then, and the next performer had come on. We were in the crowd but we weren’t really able to see, so I found this spot right on the side of the stage where you were able to stand or even sit on the steps that lead up to the stage because the venue was very small. It was a bar that holds 325 maximum, so people took whatever spot they could get, but the spot I found was a great spot because there wasn’t any tall people blocking our view. All of us are fairly short, the tallest being 5’4” so it was our own little miracle

Pacing back and forth, I pondered how our volleyball fundraiser was going to stay afloat. The council was distraught, unable to acquire more teams, with the tournament in two days. With our advisors and the vice principal leaning towards canceling the event, my council had two choices: get eight more teams to sign up or call off the event. I didn’t want to cancel because I knew that as Junior and Senior year approached, we needed more money to fund our proms and class trips.…

My political career began in 1803 when I was elected to the Kentucky General Assembly then appointed to the U.S. Senate in 1806. I was Secretary of State under John Quincy Adams.…

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…

Decision is the word I chose to explain my experiences of how I became and who I am. I want to be different from my brother, uncles and the rest of the family. I want to be an example for my Dad and Mom, even if my decisions are hard to take, because I can remember the first conversation with my Mom about dropping out of school and explaining why I have to do that, how I was going to deal with that decision and asking her to support my decision so she can help me explain it to my Dad. Well, the conversation with my Mom was so easy always, never forget how Mom is so understandable she always help me alot…

When I was young, my sister and I never got along well. Neither of us were afraid to voice our thoughts, but we had opposite personalities, so that was an enormous complication. She would constantly whine whenever I practice the violin or piano that I was too loud and it was drowning out the music she was listening to. In return, I would always retort that her music was too loud and distracting. Well, I never actually called it “her music”: I referred to it as “garbage”.…

Before it ended, they started throwing picks into the crowd, but I did not get so lucky as I did last time. While the lead singer and bassist left the stage, the drummer was still getting up and he threw one of his drum sticks into the GA crowd, and the other right in the area where my mom and I were sitting! It was a crazy rush of girls pushing and running to get the stick. With my mom having sat closer to the stage than me, she had a pretty good opportunity and rushed into the mess as well. After a small battle of grabbing hands, my mom came out victorious with the drum stick.…

Today I did something that I haven't done in a while I sat down and prayed. I'm not one who's heavy on religion at all but it's been a bunch of difficult things occurring in my life, and I find that I’m quick to analyze, figure out, and try to put the pieces together. I guess what it comes down to is that I am somewhat of a control freak. For me, if I can’t have some control, I fool myself into thinking that I’ve got some sort of ability to “figure it out” in my head.…

During my childhood, there was always one woman that captivated me; the way she could fix a car in minutes, how she could calm down my mother with a few soft words and touches, the way she seemed to know the answer to questions that didn’t have an answer. “How many stars are in the sky?” I asked her once, after learning the vastness of the universe. I knew I’d get her this time. We were sitting outside, gazing up at the sky, which was the clearest I’d ever seen it.…
