Personal Narrative: My Team

Decent Essays
As my team progressed throughout the year, we came upon our third game against Pleasant Valley High School. My team knew going into the game that PV wasn’t going to back down to anyone. Not even us! As my team ended our stretching and warm-ups, the clock struck 0:00. It was go time! The kickoff teams sprinted out to the field to get the game started. As the refs blew their whistle, I knew it was my turn to sprint on the field. All eleven guys huddled together as our coach called the first play. It was coming to me. As the linemen and receivers got set, our quarterback screamed as loud as he could. Hike! I initiated contact with the defensive back, and then began to stutter my feet. As soon as I turned my head, the ball was thrown in my direction.

Looking back, there were a few other people close to me, but this helped bring our team out of our our losing streak back into our winning streak, but the game wasn't over, two quarters remained left in the B game, and this was just the start of the game that I will look back on and say this was the game that started it all.…

A weakness that I have is that I do not know how to say no to individuals that ask me for help since I love to help people. It is important that I learn to say no when helping others gets in the way of me accomplishing my tasks. It is important that I do both, but not when I run the risk of not meeting my deadlines and me staying late hours after work to get my work done. It has not been an easy task saying no, but I am learning to be okay with saying no because it is important that it does not interfere with my responsibilities.…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…
