To know that the Mustangs still have a chance at the trophy. But when things were getting better, it all went south when the announcer said “2 minute warning”. I thought to myself, How? As the scoreboard changed to 31-34, gators still winning. Our coach said “we are going to do a regular kick off”, our whole team was scared to swallow what the coach was giving us.…
i had hope that we were gonna win. then we hit second quarter . we had a lot of time left but we were ready to kick some booty. my teammates and i ran off the bench and ran to are spots! one of my teammates passed the ball back to me, i saw a beautiful opening, so i thought “ why not, there is no one coming at you.”…
I juked a couple people, and then ran all the way to the touchdown. There was a ton of sweat dripping off my face, and then a drop got in my mouth. It tasted like salt from the cabinet. Then I realized I scored my first touchdown. I jumped up and chestbumped my teammate.…
As I passed my opponents I knew my job wasn’t over I knew that this play was gonna be big I had to push myself. As I approached our offense I he man out front came at me and started the fast break i saw my teammate behind him then I launched the ball over his head it felt like it just floated in the air it felt as if all time stopped at that moment as the ball floated down to my teammate he was in the right position he caught it, stepped in and then released it into the air as it came closer and closer to the goal and swish he had made it he scored the game winning goal! Our whole team ran at him and cheered him along. But then i realized they weren't cheering him…
It was one of the first times in my life that I had really came through for my team. My ankle throbbed, but it was worth it. This whole experience taught me 3 things. The power of leadership, the power of teamwork and self sacrifice for the greater good. My coaches strong words of encouragement taught me the power of leadership.…
It was October 2009 this was our first game with cruise school. We were losing 40 to 42 by our opponents. I was playing as shooting guard, the referee told us only 2 min till the game is over( we didn’t have score boards). The referee blows the whistle; it was there ball, the dude that was holding the ball passed it the individual I was guarding so I stole the ball and I run to the pole as fast as I can. I was hearing cheering voice form the crowd saying “go Nate, go Nate you got it”.…
The B-Teams game started and I was on the field for kick return and I got the ball and everything just slowed down and I took advantage of this so I took the ball and ran straight up the sidelines for a touchdown! Looking back, there were a few other people close to me, but this helped bring our team out of our our losing streak back into our winning streak, but the game wasn't over, two quarters remained left in the B game, and this was just the start of the game that I will look back on and say this was the game that started it all.…
We had won districts and now we were off to states! It was the summer of 2014 and my softball team had the opportunity to play in the state championship tournament. We had already competed in the district championship, and we beat our rivals, Kennebunk, to win the title. In the past Kennebunk had beaten us in the championship game multiple times, and now we had our chance.…
It was one of the most rainy days of the summer of 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and I had one of the biggest soccer tournaments in my life. My team was invited to this tournament called The Friendship Cup. This tournament was a six team tournament and your team has to be one of the top teams in your state to be invited. My team is called Blitz United and at this time we were top three in the state of Oklahoma. It was an honor for my team to be in this tournament…
I felt the goosebumps arrising on my skin and I was ready to play. I was getting ready for the kickoff and could feel the meanness kicking in. Now, the first drive was getting ready to begin. The quarterback says, “Go!” I was full blast at the person in front of me and I pancake blocked him.…
A weakness that I have is that I do not know how to say no to individuals that ask me for help since I love to help people. It is important that I learn to say no when helping others gets in the way of me accomplishing my tasks. It is important that I do both, but not when I run the risk of not meeting my deadlines and me staying late hours after work to get my work done. It has not been an easy task saying no, but I am learning to be okay with saying no because it is important that it does not interfere with my responsibilities.…
The second pitch was perfectly down the middle and I had so much adrenaline. I was super nervous and I felt like someone punched me in the stomach. I kicked the ball and it went all the way to the far outfielders and the person who was on second got home. I was now on second with one of the best players kicking.…
At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…
A New Team As I walked into the cold frosty gym, I couldn't get my mind off how excited I was to be back. It was the middle of March so it was halfway past the competition season. I was only able to compete three more meets since I was joining back so late.…
The team, coaches, and parents knew that we were going to lose, but they never expected to lose a player for the rest of the season. That game was a clear blue sky day. I remember, because that was all I could do, look up at the crisp sky and pray. I was up to bat. Nervous as I was, I knew we needed some points.…
