Personal Narrative: My Senior Project

Decent Essays
The first time senior project was ever introduced to me was actually my freshmen year. At the time of course I did not really think much about it because I just knew it was so long away and I had so many other things to do in the meantime like junior internship and a numerous amount of classes in high school, as well as the college. Honestly I did not put a whole lot of thought into it until the summer before my senior just because I knew it was a while away. My thoughts about it now more than ever is how crucial this project is, of course I already knew it was important from the jump, but it really starts to resonate even more when it’s your time to do it.
My main thought is just wondering how well I will do on it. I know I have to

My favorite thing is how all the dates are given to you and everything is being done in pieces, that way you never have too feel like you are cramming towards the end because everything has already been done. I feel good though, I have a pretty interesting skill that I can learn and my possible mentor is someone that I have known for a while now and is a great person to work with, I actually look forward to seeing what he can teach me. I am just a little uncertain about my work product, I am still having a little trouble figuring out exactly what I want to do, but with the help of my mentor I am sure that when we start working I will figure something out will not be a problem.
The only challenges I see at this point is maybe arranginging days that I can see my mentor. I do not see it being a big problem really, he lives in Raleigh so all we really have to do is just plan accordingly. Another problem is probably just the obvious of figuring out my product but like i said earlier I know I will figure something out easily.
So far I learned that the graduation is not going to be as hard as I previously anticipated it to be. Everything is basically laid out for you and help is provided it is just all about execution. I also learned that the work product is also not as hard as I thought it would be. It is just a representation of what you learned so if you actually do the hours showing what you learned will not be a problem

As I mentioned in the previous assignment, I want to increase my baseline 500 steps each week so that by the end of the semester I am recording 10,000 steps which is in the active range. I will continue walking around the property at work and stepping in place whenever I possibly can. I will stick to walking to the mailbox which is two blocks from home as opposed to driving up to it on my way home. If I have days where I am tired I will just give myself another pep talk. I have a pretty good support system thus far so I will lean on them if pushing myself on my own does not cut it.…

Everyone can say that they always imagined or wanted to look up to someone whether if the person was famous or related to them. Throughout my teenage day I’ve always wanted someone to mentor me and show me things in life that I can one day use in the future years to come. I didn’t want a mentor that was a few years older I always wanted someone that was almost twice my age, maybe even older than me. My mentor that I will be talking about name is James. James and I met at my job throughout my time working there I have worked with many managers.…

When I began Energy Express, I thought my role would be improving children's reading skills and helping them cultivate a passion for reading. However, throughout my summer of service I learned that the role of an Energy Express mentor is much greater. To mentor a child is to shape their personality and future, it is to help them grow to love learning and also to love themselves, it is to offer them hope and love since many children in this area struggle within untraditional family structures, and it is to teach them their potential is endless. Therefore, my three goals would be: cultivate a love for readnig through hands-on activities, provide a support, fun, and active enviroment that welcomes and comforts all children, and to build lasting, stable friendships among the children I mentor.…

This course of Introduction to Behavioral Counseling has been the most intriguing and challenging course I have taken so far. At the beginning of the course I believed that I couldn’t change anyone unless they are willing to change. Now, after learning about the three term consistency, I gained a new perspective on how to view that. The stories that were mentioned in class were also very useful because it gave a clearer understanding on how to handle certain behaviors. Meanwhile learning about behavior, I became more aware of my behaviors with people that I interact on a daily basis.…

Out of the three essays I wrote during the English 122 class 2016 spring semester my favorite was the Ethnography essay at the beginning. I chose it because it required me to push beyond myself to get out and get the information I needed from someone else. The writing process was really hard for me at first but after I got further into it and sought out for help it became easier. I also feel like this was my best paper as far a prep and assistance goes, I meet with teacher, talked with a tutor, did the peer reviews and even though I did get a 158/200 I do feel proud of my work ethic during the planning process. The Ethnography essay challenged me as a writer and as a person who is going to start a nonprofit business one day this assignment helped me to gain the confidence and humility to ask questions and things of others to forward my gain an know that it is okay and to be comfortable in doing so.…

Throughout my life I have always strived to be a leader- whether it has been on the athletic field, in school, in clubs, in my community, or just at home. I have always had the will to lead, but lacked the traits to lead on a larger scale. I believe that this class can help get me over that hump to maximize my leadership potential. The first day we were asked to define leadership in this class and my personal definition was “a person who initiates activity and gets others involved in a way where they understand and are excited to work”. This definition describes me as an individual leader perfectly, but in this class I am looking to develop more leadership.…

My First Day on a New Job The beginning is a place where we all have to start at some point in our lives. It could be the beginning of a marriage, a relationship, a business, a pregnancy, or a job. The one thing all these relationships would have in common is that you don’t know what it’s going to be like. We all have our expectations; in courtship, before marriage, research and planning, before starting a business, and the interview before starting the job.…

I know between all of the feedback I have received from practice, writing my paper whom do I bring to practice, reflecting on how I have come to be and creating my "mountain" has enabled me to look deeply into my relational being and how I relate to situations, clients and other team members. I have gained a clearer understanding of what my strengths are and how they positivity influences my practice. As well, I better understand my vulnerabilities and how they affect me and contribute to challenges when relating to myself and others in practice.
