For all three days I went over the recommended intake of sodium, which in the long run isn’t healthy for my body. For instance, if I continue to overdose on sodium I’m at risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and high blood pressure. Two processed foods that I enjoy eating are doritos and cheese curls. I examined the labels and discovered that cheese curls contain two grams of sugar per serving and 290 milligrams of sodium per serving. Doritos contain one gram of sugar per serving and 180 milligrams of sodium per serving. Most of the ingredients in these snacks are artificial or chemical. I have never thought about what ingredients were in the snacks, or thought about looking at the labels before I eat the food.…

My experiences volunteering for Food Recovery Network and the Knox Farm have been quite transformative. I have been there, but, thanks to Weight Watchers, I am no longer struggling in my weight loss plan. After searching, trying, and failing many different varieties of diet, I saw a Weight Watchers commercial on TV, advertising a free week trial. The mud cumulates around my hands as I grab the ball to ship it out to my teammate. I throw it as best as I can through the torrential downpour, and immediately feel a shoulder crush my ribs, causing my head to fall and slam in the mud. My vision became blocked by mud and bodies, yet I still try to watch as the ball is flying from hands to hands. An open space is cleared only feet from the Try Zone. All of a sudden, the ball hits the ground and whistle blows; we just lost the national championship by one point.…

Generally I don’t usually crave a specific type of food. I can say that on an everyday basis I just enjoy eating no matter what it is exactly. One thing I can say that I crave is a home cooked meal I am not one that enjoys neither fast food nor sweets. I prefer to sit down and stuff my face with a full plate of rice, beans, steak and bananas. If it were up to me I would eat a full course meal like that for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.…

From a young age, my parents have always enforced the idea of eating healthy constantly badgering me to eat my vegetables or have a piece of protein with my meals. Although I might not have understood why their reprimanding was important, over the course of these last few weeks in biology I have come to realize that having a sound diet in many ways encompasses what it means to be healthy and live life to its fullest. By actively moderating, recording, and learning about what I have been eating I can now clearly understand that my parents were right to encourage healthy eating in my home. My parent, specifically my mother, was always the one who cooked and influenced my healthy eating at a young age. When looking at my food logs for this…
