The music pumped, and people continued to pour in. “I don’t remember inviting all these people,” Johaly said as two more groups of guys walked in. “As long as there is an equal number of guys to girls we should be good,” I said. “Yeah, you’re right. I’m going to go inside and get that other jumbo pack of hot dogs.” When she went inside, I counted twenty-six people partying in the backyard. Eight people were in the pool, and the rest were mingling around the pool and the food table.

All of these slow songs reminded me of him. Now I felt sad and wished for a wedding next spring. I was an emotional mess on the inside and wanted to do nothing more than lay down and cry my eyes out. After Shay had announced that she was about to play the last song for the night, I watched a few guys get their mack on before they grabbed their things and prepared to leave.
