Personal Narrative Essay: The Early Memories Of Childhood

Decent Essays
The earliest memories I have from childhood consist mainly of spending my time in the hospital. I would have to say that I don’t remember when hardship did not find its place in the course of my life. It still continues to shadow over me to this very day but that is what makes me the person that I am and gives me reason to move forward.
When I was 5 years old, I watched my brother, Anthony, lose his life to neuroblastoma. Anthony was on this earth for a very short period of time but while he was here he was able to teach me so much. He taught me to not take anyone for granted because you never know when you won’t see that person ever again. He taught me that bad things can happen and that sometimes we have absolutely no control over it. He

Our home was going into foreclosure and at this point my mom wanted to give up. Her entire side of the family lives in France and the husband she once leaned on was nowhere in sight. Luckily she had me and my little brother to give her a reason to keep on thriving. After we lost our house in Cape Coral Florida we packed our bags once again and moved to Fort Lauderdale Florida. My mom was now making good money at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, but my brother and I were not getting the proper schooling we needed. We were stuck in an apartment 24 hours a day, doing home school while we waited for my mom to get home from work. Because of this, my mom decided we needed to go somewhere where we could get better schooling and be closer to …show more content…
I was entering 8th grade and my brother was entering into 5th grade at the time. Even through our constant struggle I still managed to follow my passion for Mathematics. I entered and Early College High School when I was 13 years old. I remember staying up freshman year of high school every night until 3am doing homework. High school was super difficult for me but it was one of the most important experiences in my life because I was the first in my family to get a college degree. My PreCalculus and my Algebra teachers in highschool both were excellent role models for me and told me that I should pursue Math as a career since it was one of my strongest subjects. GROWING UP Growing up, I didn’t have many luxuries, if any. The best thing I had was being a 5 minute walk away from a convenience store. The house I grew up in was infested with cockroaches and was falling apart within the walls. The dining room was so small, some of us had to eat on the floor. We only had three bedrooms, so my three younger siblings had to sleep in the living room.…

Rationale: Throughout the Great Gatsby novel, despite the extravagant parties that are held by Jay Gatsby in his mansion in particular, he is still remotely isolated from the public’s connection, as he remains to be recognized as a mysterious person. I was ten years ago and I can still vividly remember sitting on an old, wooden rocking chair while the words of The Very Hungry Caterpillar trembled off my lips to a room full of second graders. I can recall the eagerness and excitement that filled their little faces as I flipped from page to page. There was an abundance of curiosity and desire to learn in that classroom that made me happy that I decided on skipping recess to read to the younger students. There was a fire that lit in my ten-year-old body that day. That was the day where I finally had an answer to all the “What do you want to be when you grow up?”…

The Path to a Higher Education “Without education, you are not going anywhere in this world” (Malcolm X). In both Frederick Douglass’ article “Learning to Read” and in Malcolm X’s article “A Homemade Education” they discuss the challenges and obstacles that they had to overcome.
