She is 3 years old and had muscle weakness. When I first met her, she was very nice, smart and very enthusiastic towards everything. Although she couldn’t talk well, I could understand some parts of what she said about her life. I could see how much she loved riding horses and how she loved the experience. She had trouble moving her body and she couldn’t talk, but according to Michelle, the head person, she has improved a lot which makes me really happy. Liv is a very strong girl and she has had to overcome a lot. But I learned that even though she is not the same as most 3 year olds, she loves the same things and just because someone has a disorder, doesn’t mean you should treat them any different. When I go back to volunteer, I hope to see her again so I can witness her progress.
I learned that it really fun and you get a good feeling from doing community service. What surprised me is that something so simple lie sitting on a horse and walking in circles, can make such a difference in someone’s life. Sometimes it was difficult seeing all the different diseases and how it affected all the kids in many ways, but it made me realize how lucky and how fortunate I am to be healthy. I really enjoyed working with Ahead With Horses and I think it is an amazing organization and I defenently want to volunteer there
